Beginning in March 2021, I began research into metaverse platforms as post-nation state communities, producing an initial working paper on July 10th. The research focused on (a) the potential of metaverse systems to act as a sandbox for innovation in new blockchain, DeFi and Smart Contract technologies, & (b) how NFT's and virtual commodities seemed to be leading to a new form of 'virtual economics', challenging existing paradigm's of value, exchange & production in some ways, and reinforcing them in others.
